How to Clean Dog Clippers

Dog clippers are grooming tools that differ in design. The less-expensive type is typically one piece, while clippers that are more professional come with different parts and removable blades. Also, home clippers are usually different from clippers that are used in a dog-grooming business. It is important to clean dog clippers after every use because the hair can clog the blade, which will become dull. Additionally, clogged dog clippers can pull the dog's hair and become painful for the animal.

Unplug the dog clippers. Wrap the towel around the middle of the clipper to hold it. This prevents moisture from getting on the base and motor.

    • 2

Hold the dog clippers over a sink, basin or large bowl to catch the hair. Use a blow-dryer, an air pump or compressed air to remove the dog hair. Sweep the air blower over the blade back and forth to push the hair out from the clipper blade.

    • 3

Put the cloth under the warm water faucet. Moisten thoroughly and wring out. Clean the remaining hair from the blade. Wipe in the same direction as the grooves on the blade.

    • 4

Dry the dog clipper blade with the towel.

Fill the sink with warm water and place any attachments inside. Let the attachments soak for roughly five minutes. Dry with the towel before putting the attachments away.
