How to Give a Toy Poodle Puppy a Haircut

Many pet lovers choose poodles to be the perfect dog. Poodles are beautiful dogs with a lush coat of hair that needs to be trimmed regularly. Not grooming a poodle will result in mats in the hair and overgrown hair. Trimming a poodle is not as difficult as it seems. A simple cut will help your poodle remain clean and looking nice.

Instructions

Put an electric trimmer on the number 10 setting, and cut the hair on the nose. You will go from the front to the inside angle of the eyes. Then, move down to cut the muzzle and lip area. When you trim around the chin, cut against the growth of the hair.

    • 2

Cut from the end of the ear down toward the neck. Then, trim the other ear in the same manner.

    • 3

Cut the hair that is on your poodle's abdomen, and make sure you trim the crotch area as well.

    • 4

Cut the hair on the lower, or back, paws. You can switch the shears from a 10 setting to a 7 or 8. Then, shave any other areas that you would like to shave, starting from behind the ears to the bottom of the tail.

    • 5

Trim nails with pet nail clipper. Then, trim the ear hairs as well. Make sure to trim a pompom tail with a pair of scissors. Then, brush the dog over again with the electric trimmer set to the same length to make sure that the entire coat is even.

Make a pair of pants for your poodle. This means that hair will be on your toy poodle puppy around its waist and down the hind legs. You will simply follow the line of the natural curve of the paw, or hind legs. Then, with a straight scissor, sculpt the pants.
