How to Get a Diesel Smell Out of a Dog

When a dog has been "skunked" the resulting smell will be that of diesel fuel. This is because the chemicals in the skunk spray contain an oily sulfur substance. This oily sulfur substance causes the diesel smell. There is also the chance your dog has curiously gotten himself into diesel fuel as well. While there are numerous remedies to cover up the diesel smell in your dog, only a few actually break up the oils and neutralize the odor on the dog's coat.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on the plastic gloves. These are to be worn to protect your hands from the substance causing the diesel smell---not the recipe.

    • 2

Mix ingredients together in the mixing bowl and add one cup of lukewarm water. Mix again completely.

    • 3

Place your dog in the bathtub. Do not rinse his coat off first. Lather the mixture all over his fur. Lather for five to ten minutes being very careful not to get any mixture in his eyes.

    • 4

Rinse dog's coat completely. Rinse until the water runs clear and there are no bubbles in the water going down the drain.

    • 5

Dry the dog thoroughly with a towel.
