How to Make Bandanas for Pets

Many people consider pets as beloved members of the family. As such, they want to adorn their furry friends with clothing and accessories that will accent their personalities. The best part about pet fashion is that it doesn't have to be expensive. A pet can look cute and stylish in little more than a homemade bandana.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out the yard of fabric, making sure that it remains folded in its natural crease. This should create a double layer of fabric that measures 23 inches in length. Arrange the fabric so that the folded edge is at the bottom.

    • 2

Take the bottom right corner of the fabric and bring it up diagonally to the upper left corner. The edges should be completely even before proceeding. This folding should produce a triangle with excess fabric along the left-hand side.

    • 3

Cut the fabric along the edges using the pinking shears. Do not forget to use the shears along the base of the fabric triangle. This will separate the cloth into four large sections that can be turned into bandanas for larger breeds of animals.

Create smaller bandanas by putting the two edges of one of the large sections of cloth together. Cutting along the edges of this smaller fabric triangle will evenly divide the fabric. Doing this to each of the four sections will create eight small bandanas.

Prevent the material from fraying by folding up the edges of the fabric and stitching them with the sewing machine. This step can also be done by hand using needle and thread.
