Things You'll Need
- Peanut butter
- Oil
- Blow-dryer
- Comb
- Grooming product
- Scissors
Instructions
Deal with the pine pitch in your pet's hair immediately. It is soft at first, but as it begins to harden, it becomes more difficult to remove.
Rub peanut butter and a little oil into the spot where the pine pitch is tangled in. Use a blow-dryer on a low setting to keep the peanut butter and the pine pitch soft. Run a large-tooth comb through it after it has been sitting for a few minutes. Shampoo and wash the area after the pine pitch has been removed. If the pine pitch is still there, go to Step 3.
Apply a grooming product to the area tangled by the pine pitch. You can purchase this at a pet supplies store. Make sure it is designed to remove sap. This may not be as cheap as the peanut butter you already have, but it will hopefully do the trick. If not, go to Step 4.
Cut off the patch of hair that is tangled by the pine pitch. Place a comb through the area between the pine pitch and your pet's skin to make sure you don't cut the skin with the scissors. Always cut away from your pet's skin, not toward it.
