How to Apply Flea Drops After a Bath

Fleas are a nuisance! They bite animals and make them itch, plus they can carry serious diseases. They bite humans and make them itch. Fleas just have no redeeming qualities, so when they turn up in a pet's fur it is best to get rid of the little parasites as quickly as you possibly can. Giving your pet a flea bath will stun the fleas and get rid of most of them, but you will still usually need to do more. Flea drops are a popular post bath option.

Instructions

    • 1

Bathe your pet and let its fur dry completely.

    • 2

Keep your pet calm when you are ready to apply the flea drops. Many animals do not like to have flea drops applied, so if they have had drops before you may have to keep the tube out of sight to keep them calm.

    • 3

Open the tube of drops. The flea drops need to go on a spot the animal cannot easily lick or chew, so the area between the shoulder blades and the back of the skull is generally recommended.

    • 4

Part the animal's fur because the drops need to go on the skin rather than in the strands of fur. Apply the drops per the instructions on the product label.
