Instructions
Apply a tear-stain remover to your dog's tear stains. Such products as Angels' Eyes are available at pet stores. You can apply most tear-stain removers directly to the pet, while with others you may need to use a cloth. Read the directions to find what works best with that specific product. It may be easier to apply the cleanser while coming from behind the dog. If you try to apply the remover facing the dog, he may become scared.
Create a homemade remedy to remove tear stains from your American Eskimo. Mix equal parts boric acid and baby powder, then combining this mixture with Milk of Magnesia until it makes a paste. Apply the remover to the tear stains with a small toothbrush and allow it to dry, then brush it off.
Make a paste by combining corn starch and hydrogen peroxide. Using a small toothbrush, apply this mixture to the tear stains. Leave it on overnight, then remove with warm water or peroxide. You can either pour the liquid on the stain remover or use a cloth that is saturated with it. If you notice after applying the mixture that the area is becoming red and irritated or the dog becomes upset, remove the mixture immediately.
Wash the tear stains with eyebright, chamomile, calendula or goldenseal. Boil these herbs in water for a few minutes, then strain and allow the water to cool. Carefully pour the cleanser on the tear stains or dab them with a cloth that is soaked with the liquid, then rinse with water. All of these herbs can help in the removal of the stains and most have agents that are effective against bacteria and fungi.
