How to Remove Stains From White Fur

Brown stains that form around the eyes or mouth of a pet can be a common problem, particularly for pets with white fur, or in other light-colored fur. While the stains are not explicitly an indication of a health problem, in fact, in an otherwise healthy dog it should be no cause for concern; for owners that wish to keep their pet looking clean and immaculately groomed, cleaning the stains can still be an important task.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a bowl of warm tap water.

    • 2

Dip the wash cloth into the bowl, then wring it out.

    • 3

Wipe the stained area with the warm, damp wash cloth. Be careful not to press too hard, and be sure not to rub on the pet's eyeball if the stains are near the eye.

    • 4

Continue to wipe the pet's stained fur daily until the stains clear up. Continue to do so once the fur is clean, to prevent further stains.

    • 5

Trim the stained fur to speed up the process of stain removal. Rubbing keeps new fur clean, allowing the dirty fur to grow out. By trimming the fur, there is less stained fur to mix with the clean fur that is growing in.
