How to Remove Dried Spray Foam Insulation From a Dog's Hair

Spray foam insulation is used as an alternative to traditional insulation. It is sprayed in between studs and into holes. When applied it is a moist foam which expands as it dries. It is best to keep your pets out of the area while the insulation is being applied and is curing. If your dog accidentally gets the spray insulation on his coat, try to remove it before it dries. Wipe it off with a clean, dry cloth as soon as possible. A light swipe with nail polish remover may remove any remaining traces. Once dried, spray foam insulation can be very hard to remove.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubber gloves
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Plastic wrap
  • Dry cloth
  • Small scissors

Instructions

      Put on a pair of rubber gloves. You do not want the foam on your skin.

      Rub the foam with petroleum jelly. Cover in plastic wrap if possible. Let the petroleum set for about an hour.

      Try to work out any loose foam by gently wiggling it with your fingers.

      Wipe off the petroleum with a clean, dry cloth.

      Cut off remaining foam with a small pair of scissors.
