How to Get Rid of The Dog Smell on Your Dog

Sometimes my dogs stink! Their coat seems to absorb an unpleasant outdoor odor. When your dog smells like...well a dog, your entire house begins to smell like a dog. The dog lays on the furniture or carpeting and leaves that awful scent behind. I have 3 dogs and I had to find a way to make them stop stinking up my house. I didn't want to give them a bath several times a week because it's bad for their skin and coat and I really just don't have the time to do that. Here is a way to give your dog a bath frequently, a dry bath that is, and rid you dog and your home of that awful dog smell.

Instructions

    • 1

You will need plain uncooked, unflavored oatmeal, baking soda and dried lavender.

    • 2

Put 2 cups of uncooked oatmeal and 2 tablespoons of dried lavender in a blender or a food processor.

    • 3

Blend or process the oatmeal and lavender until it is a fine powder.

    • 4

Add 2 cups of baking soda and blend or process again to thoroughly mix the ingredients.

    • 5

Pour oatmeal, baking soda and lavender mixture into a clean, lidded container.

    • 6

Pour the dry rub into your hands and massage into your dogs coat. Be sure to get his underside, legs and tail. Keep away from his eyes, it will sting. Leave on for 2 to 3 minutes or until your dog shakes it off. Brush your dog. This is best done outside so you don't have oatmeal and baking soda flying all over your house.
