How to Get a Pet Used to PediPaws

PediPaws is a popular pet nail trimmer because it gently files the nails and practically eliminates the risk of cutting the nails too deep. However, a lot of consumers have purchased PediPaws only to find out that the engine noise scares their pet. With a little patience, you can train your pet to get used to the noise, and they'll allow you to trim their nails without running away.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit with your pet in one of its favorite spots. Make sure the PediPaws is turned off. Gently massage their back with the PediPaws. Verbally reassure them and praise their good behavior. Do this for from 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 2

Turn on the PediPaws. Hold your pet in place if it tries to flee. Massage them with the PediPaws the same way you did when the machine was off. Continue to praise it. Do this for 10 minutes, then turn off the PediPaws off and give your pet a treat.

    • 3

Repeat Step 2 every day until your pet is comfortable with the noise and vibration. Most dogs adjust within three to seven days; cats may take longer.

    • 4

Make sure your pet is perfectly comfortable with its new routine and try filing just one nail for just a few seconds. Repeat as needed until your pet no longer flinches or tries to pull away. Reward it with a treat when finished.

Grab the box of treats and the PediPaws and sit with your pet in your designated spot. Slowly file one nail at a time while praising it. Feed it a treat and praise it as you finish each nail.
