Use Sunscreen. With no hair to protect them, hairless breeds need sunscreen. In fact, many of the hairless Cresteds get pink when in the sun too much. There is no need to spend extra money on a dog sunscreen. Human sunscreen works great. Use no less than 30 SPF and apply at least once daily depending on the weather.

Give the dog Omega 3 supplements. Hairless breeds are susceptible to dry, irritated skin that can become inflamed easily. Purchase a children's omega 3 supplement at your local vitamin store. Carefully cut the top of the vitamin open and drizzle onto the dog's food once a day. You will find its coat and skin will be much improved.

Brush teeth daily. Chinese Cresteds are also prone to tooth decay, so it is imperative to brush regularly. Before implementing a toothbrush, you should start by using your finger, so your dog gets used to it. Massage the teeth and gum line gently. Between brushings, offer your dog rawhide bones. Those will help with the plaque buildup, too.
