Things You'll Need
- Flea spray
- Cedar chips
- Soap
Instructions
Clear the kennel of debris. Fleas thrive in dark, humid areas and avoid clean spaces exposed to light. Trim any bushes and grass around the kennel and clear any debris like leaves and sticks.
Wash the kennel walls and floors with soap and water. Maintaining a clean environment for your dogs is paramount to ridding yourself of fleas and preventing their return.
Wash all of your dog's bedding and hang it out to dry in the sunlight.
Spray the dark spaces of the kennel with flea spray. An insecticide is the most effective solution to a flea infestation, but you don't need to spray the entire kennel. Focus on the the shady, moist areas where fleas make their home.
Put down cedar chips along the kennel fence and around the base of nearby trees and bushes. Fleas are naturally adverse to the smell of cedar and this will help prevent them from returning.
