- Large container of salt
Instructions
Purchase a flea comb. All pet stores offer flea combs and they are very cheap. Mix 2 drops of dish soap in a bowl of warm water. Dip the comb into the soap mixture and run it through your pet's hair. Wipe the comb off on to a paper towel or rag, then repeat. This comb will get rid of fleas and their eggs.
Pour warm water into a spray bottle until it is almost full. You only need to leave room for 8 drops of liquid. Place 4 drops each of lavender oil and cedar oil. Place the lid back on the spray bottle and shake. Squirt your pet with this solution, being careful not to get any in the eyes. This homemade flea spray should be used three times per day for an entire week.
Pour 1/4 cup of Dawn dish washing liquid in to a bowl and add 5 drops of citrus extract. Place your pet in a lukewarm bath and lather up with the mixture from the bowl. This is your very own homemade flea shampoo. Leave your pet in the bathtub for at least 5 minutes to kill any fleas on him.
Place several bowls of soapy water under some night lights. The light attracts any fleas that are on the floor. The fleas jump toward the light and into the bowl, then can't get out. They die within 5 minutes.
Buy some large bottles of salt from your local grocery store. Salt kills fleas, so after you have given your pet a bath and used the flea comb, you will need to kill the fleas on the floor. Take your pet into your bedroom for the night and sprinkle salt all over the floors in your home. In the morning, vacuum it up and then put the salt on the floor in your bedroom for the duration of the day. Vacuum up the salt at night and your flea problem will be gone.
