Instructions
Remove pet hair by using a rubber glove. To make it even more effective, run the glove under water and shake off any excess water. Use short strokes to pick up pet hair off of fabric. This method works well on small areas with nooks that fur finds its way into. A damp sponge also works in the same fashion, collecting up fur in short strokes and trapping it for removal.
Try using sticky paper or lint brushes to remove hair from the sofa or car seats. These sheets work well to pick up excess hair, and can be easily disposed of once the hair is removed. Pet stores often carry these types of hair removal products, as well as rubber brushes and hair magnet, but sticky paper can be found in the laundry and home cleaning aisles of most retail stores. Duct tape is an old-fashioned remedy in picking up lint and hair, but it works just as well as the lint sticky sheets and may be even a more economical purchase.
Use fabric softener sheets. This homemade remedy works well at removing the pet hair from fabric surfaces. By rubbing a dryer sheet over the areas with pet fur, it can help release it from the location and make it easy to remove.
Remove pet hair from the carpet by vacuuming or using a rubber broom on areas with pet fur. A rubber brush and broom works well on fabric because the bristles use static electricity to attract the fur to the bristles. A traditional stiff bristled brush may also help when removing fur from fabric and carpets.
Cover a pet's favorite spot with a pet bed or blanket. If your pet rests in the same spot each time, it may be a good idea to place a pet pillow, bed or blanket in that area so he can relax in a comfortable manner but stay off the actual furniture. This can allow you to still sit with the pet, but not end up with fur all over your clothing or upholstery.
