How to Groom a Toy Poodle

Toy poodles are high-maintenance dogs. They require extensive grooming every six to eight weeks. If their hair is not cut and brushed regularly, it can grow into little cords, which can make the animal uncomfortable and restrict its movements. There are ways to groom a toy poodle and keep the animal looking its best.

  • Dog clippers
  • Dog scissors
  • Soft slicker brush
  • Greyhound comb
  • Dog shampoo
  • Nail clippers

      Find a groomer who can show you the tools to use and the correct way to use them if you have never groomed a dog.

      Clip the legs and body the same length, about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch long.

      Shave the face and throat clean, along with the feet and the base of the tail.

      Scissor a ball of hair at the end of the tail and the top of the head.

      Brush and comb your toy poodle with both a soft slicker brush and a greyhound comb at least once a week.

      Give your toy poodle a bath, trim its nails and clean its ears every six to eight weeks.
