How to Groom a Welsh Terrier

Welsh Terriers are energetic, simple and friendly dogs. They are good with children and are best combined with a young and active family that can keep up with them. The wiry coat should have a natural, somewhat unkempt look to it. They need a full grooming every 6 to 8 weeks.

Instructions

    • 1

Pluck the coat at least two or three times per year. Pull the hair out by hand. Don't pull too hard or hurt the dog. The dead hair should come out easily in clumps.

    • 2

Groom the black and tan coat with slicker brushes, pin brushes and metal combs several times per week. They shed very little hair, if any.

    • 3

Bathe when necessary but not too often. When drying, don't try to add volume to the coat, but let it fall back naturally to the body.
