How to Groom a Clumber Spaniel

These adorable dogs are fairly small, usually between 16 and 20 inches, and have soft, dense coats. The are mild mannered and many consider them the most low key of all hunting dogs. They like the water and you can train them to retrieve. Clumber Spaniels require general grooming twice a month and a full grooming every 8 to 10 weeks.

Instructions

    • 1

Neaten the anus area with scissors or a blade. Be very careful not to cut the dog's skin.

    • 2

Trim stray hair from the feet. If you put your dog in a show, you can trim the leg hair up to the hocks.

    • 3

      Clean up tail feathering.

    • 4

Straighten up the coat with blending shears if there are stray hairs. The coat should lay flat on the body.

    • 5

Brush your Clumber Spaniel's coat with a slicker or pin brush, depending on your preference.
