How to Groom a Chinese Crested Dog

Chinese Crested dogs are playful little dogs with a unique look. They are extremely small and are a part of the toy dog group. There are two kinds of Chinese Crested dogs: hairless and powderpuff. Both kinds can be born in the same litter. They are good family pets and have a relatively low maintenance grooming regimen which consists of weekly general care and a full grooming every 6 to 8 weeks.

Instructions

    • 1

Fluff the areas of the dog's body which have hair fluffs with a brush. Don't brush too hard or you may scratch the skin.

    • 2

Use cotton balls to prevent getting water in the dog's ears. Chinese Crested dogs have large ears which makes it easy for this to happen if you aren't careful.

    • 3

Check the dog's skin for signs of sunburn or various types of injury, including scratches or bug bites. Chinese Crested dogs are very delicate little dogs and you must check their skin regularly for these irritants.

    • 4

Bathe the dog at least once a week. If you don't bathe your Chinese Crested dog at least once a week he may develop acne. Don't use dog shampoo to bathe. Use body wash for people or a gentle face wash.
