How to Groom a Cardigan Welsh Corgi

Cardigan Welsh Corgis are the descendants of Swedish Vallhunds which the Vikings brought to Wales in the 800s. They are gentle, good natured animals with a loyal and obedient temperament. They are eager to please and respond well to considerate, well behaved children, but don't like strangers. These dogs are very low maintenance. They require a monthly general grooming and a full grooming every 8 to 10 weeks.

Instructions

    • 1

Bathe the dog using protein rich shampoos and conditioners.

    • 2

Spray the dog's coat with a protein coat conditioner after the bath to add an extra sheen.

    • 3

Neaten up the pasterns and the body in general. Remember that you shouldn't trim your Corgi if she's a show dog.

    • 4

Comb occasionally. Combing has a better effect on this dog's dense double coat than brushing.
