Difficulty: Hard
Time: 7-10 minutes
Things you'll need:
* A comb
* A few hair ties
* Hair spray(optional)
Step 1: Prep your hair
Start with clean, detangled hair. If your hair is thick, you might want to apply a leave-in conditioner or oil to help keep it from getting tangled.
Step 2: Section your hair
You'll need three equal sections of hair as a base structure. Start by splitting the hair down the center, then split each of those two sections in half again.
Step 3: Start your French braid
Take the center hair section and cross it over the right-hand section, pulling it tight and adding hair to that section as you go. Repeat on the left side, bringing the hair over and into the center section.
Step 4: Weaving your Dutch braid
As you continue braiding, add hair from underneath to each of the three strands. This technique is known as "understitching" and will produce a traditional dutch braid.
Step 5: Repeat
Continue weaving your braid until all the pieces have been gathered.
Step 6: Secure your braid
Fasten your braid with hair ties or clips, and use a little bit of hairspray to help keep it in place.
