Instructions
Bath the goldendoodle. Use a shampoo and then rinse. Wash the body and then the face. Use a final rinse solution to remove trace residue of the shampoo and make combing and brushing easier. Finish with a leave-in conditioner with detangler.
Pat the dog with the towels to remove excess water. Do not rub as this will encourage tangles in the fur. Let the dog air-dry when possible. When there are time restraints, use a hair blower on a very low setting and keep the blower moving constantly to avoid too much heat or burning the dog.
Clean the dog̵7;s ears. Wrap a clean washcloth around your finger. Dig the washcloth in an ear-cleaning solution and lift the ear to clean.
Use a pin brush and a poodle comb to comb out the fur. Avoid the use of slicker brushes. These can damage hair cuticles and contribute to matting. Start with a light brushing over the entire coat of fur and then lift up sections of fur gently to brush underneath. This makes sure there is no hidden matting in his fur.
Use a trimmer with a snap-on comb at least 1 inch long. You can leave the fur longer by using a longer comb but do not cut shorter than this because the fur helps to protect the dog from heat and sunburn. Use blending shears at the elbows and hocks for a natural rather than scissored look. Use the blending shears to blend the fur at the head in with the neck. Trim the fur above his eyes for proper vision. Use the trimmer with snap-on comb on either side of the face. Trim the fur on the feet with the blending scissors. Use a tiny trimmer to clean up the pads of the feet.
Check the dog̵7;s nails and trim if necessary with a nail trimmer designed for dogs. Be careful to avoid the quick of the nails.
