Brushing
-
The natural texture of the bichon poo's coat is curly or wavy. As such, their fur is more prone to becoming tangled than dogs that have straight coats. To maintain a smooth and silky coat, brush the bichon poo on a daily basis. Brushing reduces the tangling of the hairs and keeps padding around the ears to a minimum. If you come across knots or pads in the fur of your bichon poo, try to comb it out or cut the piece of fur if necessary.
Trimming
-
The coat of the bichon poo will grow long if it is not trimmed regularly. Keeping the coat short is a beneficial grooming technique for maintaining a manicured appearance. Otherwise, the coat of the bichon poo can begin to look straggly, wiry and untidy. A trim every two months is adequate.
Shampooing
-
Bichon poo owners should not over-shampoo their dogs. Shampooing bichon poos too often -- say, once a week -- can strip the dogs of their natural oils that keep their skin and coats soft. Too much shampoo can cause a bichon poo's skin to dry out and their bodies may become itchy and irritating. Oatmeal-based shampoos work well for bichon poos who may have skin sensitivities. Shampooing a bichon poo once a month is suitable for grooming maintenance, unless, of course, the dog gets very dirty before the month is up.
Nails
-
Bichon poos have small nails that need to be trimmed every week or two. Use dog-specific nail clippers or an electric rotary tool to file the nails down. If your bichon poo is very active outdoors, the nails may not grow as fast due to the friction from running around. If your bichon poo is on the lazy side or stays indoors more, the nails may grow faster in between trimmings.

Grooming Bichon Poos
Bichon poo is a hybrid dog breed that combines the bichon frise and the poodle. Bichon poos are small dogs that inherit their size from the miniature poodle while maintaining some of the coat characteristics of the bichon frise. The bichon poo is a non-shedding dog, so you do not have to worry about mounds of fur in your home. However, there are specific grooming tips relating to bichon poos.
