How to Remove Seed Ticks and Eggs

Ticks lay thousands of eggs at a time, which quickly hatch into seed ticks. Like their parents, seed ticks feed off the blood of animals and humans before they fall to the ground, molt into the nymph stage and repeat the process of feeding and falling off once more to become adults. Ticks can spread blood-borne diseases to humans and their pets, making it very important to remove and kill the adult ticks as well as their larvae.

Instructions

    • 1

Bathe yourself or your pet with tick shampoo. While this won't kill the eggs, it will help remove any in your hair or your pet's coat. Wash down your bathtub thoroughly afterward, or give the dog a bath outside to avoid spreading the ticks through your home.

Apply topical repellent to your dog regularly. Apply topical spray if you notice a recent outbreak of tick infestation. The repellent will repel adult ticks and keep them from laying eggs in your dog's coat, while the spray will keep tick eggs from hatching and kill any seed ticks.

Vacuum regularly to remove any eggs that adult ticks lay in your home. Wash your dog's bedding regularly as well.
