How to Make Flea Repellent From Gray Goose Vodka

Combating the fleas on your pet can be a seemingly endless uphill battle. Manufacturers come up with new products regularly to beat the fleas once and for all. But a few homemade remedies can work as well as ointments and shampoos from the veterinarian or the pet store. One recipe uses vodka and a few other easy to find ingredients to create a spray to repel fleas on your pet.

Things You'll Need

  • Small pot
  • Spray bottle
  • 2 drops cedarwood essential oil
  • 2 drops lemongrass essential oil
  • 2 drops rose geranium essential oil
  • 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vodka
  • 1 cup dried peppermint, eucalyptus or bay leaf herbs
  • 2 to 4 cups of water

Instructions

      Mix the three essential oils and vodka in the plastic bottle and shake it until the mixture turns white.

      Add the apple cider vinegar and mix well.

      Boil 2 to 4 cups of water and remove it from the heat. Add 1 cup total of peppermint, eucalyptus and bay leaf, in whatever combination is available.

      Steep the herbs and let the water cool. Add it to the spray bottle and shake well.

      Wash your pet with a mild shampoo. Spray the mixture on your pet's coat, legs, stomach, back and anywhere else that has been noticeably itchy. Spray on your pet every other day as needed.
