What Will Make a Female Yorkie Throw Up White Foam?

Your female Yorkshire terrier (Yorkie) may be vomiting white foam for several different reasons. The most common reason is an upset stomach. If your dog keeps vomiting, it is best to take her to your veterinarian. Your dog might have a more serious health condition.
  1. Stomachache

    • Your Yorkie may have a simple stomachache. It is possible she was active too soon after drinking a lot of water. Another cause may be she ate something that did not agree with her stomach. If the vomiting is happening often, your dog may have a more serious condition like inflammatory bowel disease or an ulcer.

    Kennel Cough

    • The vomiting may be from kennel cough, an upper respiratory infection only found in dogs. If your Yorkie has kennel cough, she will be coughing and possibly have a runny nose, but otherwise appears her usual self. If your dog has kennel cough, it may go away on its own, but if symptoms get worse, a visit to the vet is advised.

    Bloat

    • If your dog has other symptoms such as anxiety, a bloated stomach, and restlessness along with vomiting (or attempts to vomit), she may have bloat. When a dog is suffering from bloat, air is trapped in her stomach, causing the stomach to swell, which cuts off circulation. Bloat is a serious condition that can be life-threatening and requires immediate veterinarian care.

    Solutions

    • If your Yorkie appears to have just an upset stomach, skipping a meal may be just what she needs. Do not feed your dog for 12 to 24 hours with a light meal before bed to line her stomach against acid build up. If the vomiting continues after this period or if symptoms are severe, please see a veterinarian.
