Apple Cider Vinegar
-
Dilute one part apple cider vinegar and one part cool water in a small bowl. Saturate a cloth with the mixture and apply lightly to the open sore. Repeat this process two or three times a day to keep the sore sanitized. Allow it to dry after each application.
Black Tea
-
Black tea can also help to dry out open, oozing sores on your dog, due to the ingredient tannic in the tea. Simply apply a tea bag directly to the affected area and hold in place for several minutes. Make sure the tea bag is no longer hot when you place it on the wound. Repeat this process three or four times a day.
Calendula
-
Calendula is a derivative of marigold and has antibiotic tendencies as well as a soothing effect. Make a mixture of 50 parts water and 50 parts calendula and use a cotton swab or a saturated cotton ball to apply the mixture to the open sore three or four times a day. It will aid in the healing process as well as providing soothing pain relief.
Other Methods
-
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt into 1 cup of warm water. Saturate a cloth in the mixture and apply to the affected area two or three times daily. The salt will help to dry out the wound. You can also use witch hazel. It comes in liquid form and should be applied topically a few times a day to the affected area to help dry it out and reduce itching.
