How to Treat Warts on Poodles

Canine warts, or canine papilloma, are commonly found on older poodles. The papilloma virus attacks the poodle's immune system and causes lesions on its skin. Most commonly found around the mouth and lips, these warts can actually occur anywhere on the poodle's body. Immediate treatment is recommended, since they spread quickly. Many dog owners have found that homeopathic treatment works for their poodles. These home remedies typically take a week or more to see results.

Instructions

    • 1

Give your poodle a daily vitamin to help boost its immune system. Warts occur when the poodle has a weakened immune system.

    • 2

Add 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar or unsweetened cranberry juice to the poodle's drinking water. This will acidify your pet's system and help kill the warts.

    • 3

Add raw garlic to the poodle's food if possible. If that doesn't work, buy garlic supplement capsules, open them, and mix them into the dog food. Garlic is a powerful immune booster.

Make a mixture of 1 tbsp. finely chopped raw onion and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Put the poultice on the warts and leave for 15 minutes. Cover the poultice with gauze and secure with tape to keep it on the infected area. Repeat this twice a day as needed. If your poodle licks a lot, you may need to use a cone.
