How to Find Out Which One of Your Dogs Has Worms If You Find Poop That Has Worms in It

Tapeworms and roundworms are the most common parasitic worms in dogs. Roundworms look like cooked spaghetti, but their eggs are usually what you find in stool. Tapeworms resemble rice. If you find this kind of worm in dog stool and own more than one dog, you will want to find out which dog is infected so you can treat it with a de-wormer. Sometimes you should consult a veterinarian.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on rubber gloves to avoid the risk of infecting yourself.

    • 2

Keep all of your dogs indoors or in an enclosed area. Allow one dog out at a time to relieve itself. After the dog has had a bowel movement, examine its stool. Probe the stool or pull apart the chunks to examine further, if needed. If worms are in the stool, you have identified the infected dog. If no worms are present in any of the dogs' "deposits," you may need to repeat the procedure. Sometimes worms do not show up in the stool.

Take your dogs to a veterinarian for examinations. Have the vet test the dogs' stool if there is any doubt as to which dog is infected or what type of worm it has.
