Instructions
Depress the plunger on the syringe all the way down so all the air is out of the syringe.
Add a needle to the syringe, if necessary, and remove the cap. Pull the depressor back to the desired amount to add air to the syringe.
Insert the needle into the rubber cap of the medication bottle. Do not cut the rubber cap, the needle will push through. Ensure the the needle is in the medication fluid. Depress the air into the medication. This makes it easier for the medication to flow into the syringe.
Turn the bottle upside down, keeping the needle in the medication and pull the plunger back until the syringe is full just past the desired mark.
Pull the needle out of the bottle and turn it so it is pointing in the air. You will see some air bubbles in the syringe.
Tap the side of the syringe to get the air bubbles to rise to the top. Slowly depress the plunger while the syringe is upright to eject the bubbles. A small amount of medication will come out.
How to Give the Right Amount to My Dog With a One-Milliliter Syringe
Syringes come in many different sizes and a one-milliliter syringe is very small and is used for injections on small dogs, such as a toy breed. These syringes are usually marked with 1 mL on one end and 1/2 mL in the middle. The other side may be marked with "cc" which is equal to milliliters or units. It helps to use a black marker on the syringe before you start measuring so you can easily see how far you need to fill it with fluid. Once the syringe is filled it is ready to be injected into your dog.
