How to Give Revival Shots to a Puppy

Although puppies get immunity from their dam while nursing, this immunity is temporary and short lived. Puppies must get a series of vaccination shots to keep them healthy and disease free. Most Revival puppy shots are given subcutaneously or under the skin. If a Revival puppy shot calls for being given intramuscular, you should have the vaccine given by your veterinarian. The Revival Animal Health website recommends starting puppy vaccination shots at 6 to 8 weeks of age.

    • 2

Insert the needle into the bottle of Revival puppy vaccine and pull the plunger backward to fill the syringe with the correct amount of vaccine. Use the appropriate dosage noted on the vaccine package.

    • 3

Tip the filled syringe upside down and gently press the plunger until the liquid vaccine comes to the top of the syringe.

    • 4

Tap the side of the syringe gently to remove any air bubbles.

    • 5

Grasp the loose skin between the puppy's shoulder blades and pull the skin up gently.

    • 6

Insert the needle into the bottom area of the loose skin you pulled up.

    • 7

Pull the plunger backward quickly to ensure there is no blood in the needle. If you see blood in the syringe, immediately stop and withdraw the needle. Discard the entire syringe, needle and vaccine and start over.
