Cheerios for Dogs
-
As long as the dog doesn't have any allergies to wheat or grains, Cheerios are fine for them to eat. However, grains are the No. 1 allergy of dogs, so check with the family vet to see if it is safe to feed the dog Cheerios before actually giving them to the dog. Do not feed the dog Cheerios as a full meal because they do not contain enough nutrients, and Cheerios do have sugar in them, so avoid feeding family pets large quantities of the treat.
Cheerios Ingredients
-
Cheerios are made from whole grain oats and have no artificial colors of flavors. They contain 1 gram of sugar and are low in fat, have no saturated fat and are cholesterol-free. With 14 vitamins and minerals, Cheerios are a good source of fiber, calcium and iron. The recipe also includes modified corn starch and salt.
Cheerios Training Tips
-
Cheerios are a great training tool because they can go anywhere in a plastic baggy and they don't spoil. Start with an easy command like "sit." At first the dog will not understand the command, but put the dog in a seated position and repeat the word "sit." If the dog doesn't move, give them a few Cheerios. Repeat the command and the reward, if they stay sitting. If the dog moves, put them back in the sitting position and repeat "sit." Eventually the dog will sit on command, but keep up the rewards system.

Are Cheerios Good for Dogs?
No matter how careful anyone can be over allowing Fido to eat the food scraps, on occasion some tasty treat will fall on the floor or be left unattended on the counter and Fido will chow down. Cheerios are one of those tasty treats, but to make matters worse, they roll all over the floor, getting lost under counters and crushed under shoes and dogs seem to be especially good at cleaning up the stray pieces.
