Plaque Remover Sprays for Pets

Like humans, pets will develop plaque on their teeth which has to be removed to avoid diseases, bad breath and considerable discomfort for the animal. Veterinarians suggest regular brushing of the teeth as the best prevention method for dental plaque, but keeping an animal quiet and stable while poking around in their mouth with a tooth brush can be an exhausting experience with some distress for the pet. Some pet care manufacturers have developed sprays that not only delay the buildup of plaque, but also remove it to a certain extent.
  1. Petzlife

    • By mixing grapefruit seed extract and other herbs, U.S. manufacturer Petzlife has produced a dental care compound for cats and dogs. The product comes in form of sprays, gels and paste and should be applied twice a day, morning and evening, to ensure success. The company promises visible success and whiter teeth after only two weeks, and declares that all ingredients are natural and not harmful to pets. Petzlife Oral Care is aimed at cats and dogs, and prices at the time of publication started at $25, depending on required amount and choice of product.

    Leba Lab III

    • This rather costly product contains distilled water, ethyl alcohol and various herbs. It works by stimulating the enzymes in the animal's saliva which gradually cleans away the build up on the teeth. It has to be applied twice a day and the spray nozzle should aim at the tongue of the animal to get the enzyme process working properly. Leba Lab III is available for cats and dogs cost between $68 and $75 for a bottle containing approximately 240 spray applications.

    Plaque Attack

    • Grapefruit seed extract, grape-seed extract, various oils and grain alcohol are the main ingredients of Plaque Attack, which also has to be sprayed into the mouth rather than to the teeth. The manufacturer suggests two applications a day for heavy plaque, which can be reduced to one spraying session a day once the buildup has been significantly reduced. The product can be ordered directly from the manufacturer and cost $20 for a six-month supply.
