How to Remove Something From a Dog's Eye

Dogs of all sizes may accumulate dirt and debris in and around their eyes. In most cases, you can remove this debris with common supplies from a drug store or pet store. To prevent irritation or bacteria growth, all dog owners should the eyes regularly and take care of problems as soon as possible. Since a dog's eyes are just as sensitive as a human's eyes, you must take extreme care when cleaning them.

Things You'll Need

  • Cornstarch
  • Clean cloth
  • Peroxide or boric acid
  • Dog eye wipes
  • Dog eyewash

      Clean around your dog's eyes. Mix equal parts peroxide and cornstarch, or boric acid and cornstarch. Using a clean cloth, apply this mixture around the eyes while avoiding contact with the sensitive tissues and the eyeball, and allow it to sit for a few hours. Rinse the solution with warm water.

      Wipe around the edge of the dog's eye with a dog eye wipe (available at pet stores) or a clean cloth and warm water. Do not wipe the eyeball.

      Flush debris out of a dog's eye with an eyewash made specifically for dogs, available at pet stores or from your vet. Gently squeeze the eyewash into the corner of the dog's eye, and reward your pet for his good behavior afterward.
