How to Use Neem Oil for Mange

Mange is a skin disease caused by small mites that has been known to affect dogs and other animals. It is persistent as well as contagious, causing rashes and loss of hair. If an an animal is found to have mange it should be treated immediately before it has a chance to spread to other animals and people. Neem oil is made from the neem tree, an evergreen of India, and has been used traditionally as a treatment for mange as well as many other skin conditions.

  • Pure neem oil
  • Almond oil
  • Dog shampoo

      Add neem oil to your dog's shampoo. For every 100ml of shampoo, mix one to five milliliters neem oil. If the mange problems are severe, use five milliliters neem, if not, use less.

      Wash the dog thoroughly with the neem shampoo. Let the shampoo sit on the dog for a few minutes before rinsing out. Repeat this step two to three times per week until the mange starts to clear.

      Dilute additional neem oil with another light oil. Grape seed or almond oil will work for this. The solution should be one part neem oil to 10 parts light oil.

      Apply the oil to the dog's most mangy spots to speed the healing.
