Things You'll Need
- Tissues
- Damp washcloth
- Ear cleaning solution
- Cotton balls
Instructions
Sit beside or in front of your pug and hold its face in your hand. Using your fingers, spread the wrinkles apart to check for redness, a foul odor or any other signs of trouble.
Wipe out the wrinkles with a dry tissue to remove any loose dirt or debris, cleaning one side of the face and then the other. If there are any areas where a dirty crust has formed, loosen and remove the crust with a damp washcloth. Take extra care to thoroughly clean the area closest to your dog's eyes, which is likely to be the dirtiest area of the pug's entire face because of dirt sticking to eye discharge.
Dry the wrinkles thoroughly after cleaning them with a damp cloth. Leaving behind any moisture in the folds of your pug's face will cause additional problems.
Lift one of the pug's ears and squirt in an ear cleaning solution. Using your thumb and index finger, press together the base of the ear to help the solution penetrate the earwax and debris inside the ear canal.
Place a cotton ball as far as you can inside the ear and move it around with your finger, which will remove all of the loosened debris from inside the ear. Depending on how dirty the pug's ear is, the cotton ball may be quite brown when you remove it.
Repeat the cleaning process on the opposite ear. When you're finished, praise your pug for being cooperative and give it a treat or take it out to play.
