Instructions

    • 1

Determine the correct dosage for your dog or cat. Talk with your veterinarian to make sure you have the correct amount of medication. The dosage will vary depending on the weight of the animal. However, the application method is the same for dogs and cats.

    • 2

Put on the rubber gloves. Using scissors, cut off the tip of the plastic applicator tube; discard the tip immediately.

    • 3

Hold your pet in place with a hand placed on the back of its neck. Slide the other hand up the animal's back until you reach the shoulder blades, near the base of the neck.

    • 4

Find a spot between the shoulder blades to apply the medication. Use your fingers to separate the fur, exposing a spot of skin. The spot does not need to be large, but the skin does need to be exposed.

    • 5

Squeeze the Advantage medication onto the exposed skin area. Squeeze the tube twice to ensure all the medication has left the tube. After the second squeeze, continue to keep the tube pressed firmly between your fingers, and lift it away from the animal, ensuring that all medication is applied to the animal's skin.

    • 6

Release the pressure from the tube away from the animal. This keeps the medicine you have applied from being sucked back into the tube, and also prevents spills on the animal's fur that might be licked off.

    • 7

Remove and discard the rubber gloves. Throw away the empty application tube as well.
