How to Use Marshmallow Root for Dogs

      Prepare a deodorizing powder for the dog. Mix together 3 parts green food, which can be wheat grass, or barley grass, 1 part yucca root, 2 parts dandelion root and 1 part marshmallow root. Add a small amount to the dog's food. Increase the amount ½ teaspoon per every 10 pounds of body weight every day. Do this for 5 days. Skip 2 days then resume the procedure. Repeat the routine for 1 month.

      Add powdered marshmallow root to the dog's food. This will aid the relief of kennel cough, diarrhea and colitis. Add ¾ to 1 teaspoon to the food twice a day for adult dogs. Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon to puppy food.

      Mix marshmallow root powder with water, making a thick poultice. Apply the poultice directly on wounds to help speed healing.
