Supplement your dog's diet with omega oils 3 and 6. These oils are not naturally produced by dogs and are extremely effective in treating dry skin and maintaining a healthy coat.

    • 2

Apply a paste of oatmeal mixed with water directly onto the affected areas of your dog's skin. Leave for five to 10 minutes and rinse with cool water.

    • 3

Treat dry or itchy paws by bathing them for 10 minutes in a mixture of Epsom salts and cold water. The salts will both soothe the itching and prevent infection.

    • 4

Grooming your dog daily to remove dead hair and encourage molting will also improve dry or flaky skin. Use a soft bristle brush to ensure you cause minimum irritation to your dog.
