Bathe your dog in a hypoallergenic shampoo to help soothe the itching.

When washing, drying and brushing your dog, look for signs of fleas and other parasites. Flea signs includes black dirt-like grains that turn red when exposed to water. Lice infections include white eggs or nits.

Bring your dog to a veterinarian for a full diagnosis. Your veterinarian may prescribe essential fatty acids, antihistamines and corticosteroids to help with the itching. Follow your veterinarian's instructions for treating your dog.
