How to Bake Treats for Diabetic Dogs

Dogs can be diagnosed with diabetes just like their owners. When this disease occurs in your pet, it can be managed with diet, exercise and medication, just like the human treatment. It is important to monitor the diabetic dog's eating habits and to limit its carbohydrate and sugar intake. Instructions

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour the mixture in small muffin tins and bake for approximately 25 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the center of one of the muffins; if it comes out clean, the muffins are completely cooked. You can give your dog one muffin each day for a treat.

Mix 1 cup of wheat germ with two jars of any meat-flavored baby food. Form a dough and roll into small balls. Place the balls on a cookie sheet and use a fork to flatten them. Bake at 350 for approximately 20 minutes. Since baby food has no added salt or sugar, these dog cookies not only will be healthy for your diabetic dog, they will have an appealing meat flavor as well.
