Instructions

    • 1

Lay a rubber mat in the bottom of your bath tub so the dog won't slip during bathing.

    • 2

Shampoo the dog with water and a solution of 1 tsp. of liquid dishwashing detergent mixed with water.

    • 3

Build up a good lather all over the dog's fur except the head. Allow the lather to sit for five minutes. This solution will smother the adult fleas on the dog.

    • 4

Rinse thoroughly. Towel dry the dog.

    • 5

Comb the dog's fur with a fine-toothed flea comb available at pet stores. You will pick up leftover fleas on the comb which you can dip in a bowl of water to remove from the comb.

    • 6

Wash all dog dishes, toys and bedding.

    • 7

Mix together 1-1/2 lbs. of borax, 1-1/2 lbs. of diatomaceous earth and 1 cup of salt. Sprinkle on carpets in areas where fleas have been found and areas where the dog sleeps and plays.

    • 8

Allow mixture to sit on carpet for several days.

    • 9

      Vacuum up the mixture thoroughly.

    • 10

Remove the vacuum bag, wrap in plastic and throw into an outside garbage container to prevent re-infestation.
