Instructions
Spray your dog with pyrethrin-based flea spray, or sprinkle the dog with pyrethrin-based powder. Powders last longer, but can be messy and are ineffective when wet.
Spray your dog's bedding, home furniture, carpets and anywhere else suspected of flea infestation.
Comb your dog with a flea comb, as well, to help remove the pests from your pet's fur.
Reapply the pyrethrin spray or powder regularly until fleas are gone.
Consider applying another substance, such as diatomaceous earth, around the entrances to your home to prevent more fleas from entering after using pyrethrin to eliminate them.
How to Use Pyrethrin for Fleas on Dogs
Fleas are an annoyance to pets and humans alike. They tend to spread, and if not taken care of quickly, can take up residence in your home. In addition to being annoying, fleas carry a variety of diseases. Eliminating them quickly is important, and pyrethrin is a safe and effective way to control the pests. There is little to worry about with pyrethrin, which is derived from chrysanthemums, unlike synthetic pesticides which can be dangerous to you and your dog.
