Things You'll Need
- Bleach
- Water
- Diapers
Instructions
Go outside when you take your female in heat to use the bathroom to make sure that there are no male dogs out that will respond to your dog's estrus odor. Take a spray bottle filled with ¼ cup bleach per gallon of water, and spray wherever your dog urinates or defecates. This will help get rid of the odor that will attract males.
Buy diapers for your dog in heat. This will prevent blood from getting on your floors, which can cause an odor that attracts males. Chances are that male dogs will not even smell the odor because diapers help neutralize smell, and make sure you change them frequently. Clean your dog frequently, as you would a baby, to prevent any kind of infection or rash.
Apply Vicks VapoRub to the diaper's back. Although males will come up to the female at first, they will turn around and walk away because of the smell. If you have a male dog living in the house, you can get a good night's sleep knowing that he will stay away.
