It's important to identify the cause of the dry skin. If your dog's situation is particularly bad, make sure to take her to the vet. Dry skin is also itchy and uncomfortable. Cleaning your dog's dry skin will make her more comfortable and will also prevent infection.

      Brush your dog thoroughly. This will remove flakes of loose skin and dander. It's the same as exfoliating your own skin. Keeping your dog's coat well-groomed will keep dead skin cells to a minimum

      Bathe your dog in colloidal oatmeal. To do this blend 1 cup of oatmeal into a fine powder so it will dissolve more easily. Add the oatmeal to a tub of lukewarm water. The water should come up to the middle of the dog's chest.

      Apply a bit of olive oil on your dog's coat to keep his skin moisturized.
