Instructions

  1. Dogs and Pills

    • 1

Take two pieces of cheese and place the pill on one piece.

    • 2

Fold cheese over so the pill is completely enclosed in the cheese.

    • 3

      Fold other piece of cheese.

    • 4

Hold a piece of cheese in each hand.

    • 5

Give dog the piece with the Metronidazole inside and hold the other piece in front of it. Most dogs will eat the first piece quickly as they focus on the second piece. Once it has swallowed the first piece of cheese with the Metronidazole inside it, give your dog the second piece.

    Dogs and Liquid Metronidazole

    • 6

Place the prescribed amount of Metronidazole in an eyedropper. Be careful to measure the exact amount prescribed by your veterinarian.

    • 7

Gently hold your dog's muzzle. Talk in soothing tones so your dog relaxes.

    • 8

Tip its head up an inch or two. You want the medicine to slide down your dog's throat easily. Be careful not to tilt its head too high or it won't be able to swallow.

    • 9

Gently insert dropper of Metronidazole between the dog's lips. Angle it back as far as possible into the dog's mouth. Squeeze the bulb of the dropper to squirt the medicine into your dog's mouth. It's good to keep talking in soft, soothing terms so your dog stays relaxed.

Hold muzzle closed for a few seconds and gently stroke throat to encourage swallowing. Tell your dog what a good dog it's being.
