Can a Dog Pass on Germs From a Person That Is Sick?

Imagine a dog planting its paws in your lap and covering your face with sloppy licks. Your face is wet, your clothes wrinkled and your health could be in danger since just like humans, dogs can pass germs from one person to another.
  1. Germs

    • Humans and dogs can share germs, usually in the form of bacteria, according to the LA Times. Some germs that have been transmitted by dogs include MRSA and C. dificile.

    Transmission

    • A dog can pick up germs from an infected person on its fur or paws, then pass those germs on to the next person that comes in contact with it.

    Precautions

    • The best precaution to take to avoid passing germs is to wash your hands on a regular basis. It is easier to wash your hands than it is to try to sanitize a dog, according to the New York Times.
