Instructions

Soak your dog in cool water to soothe the itchy skin. Add Epsom salts to help draw out toxins in the skin and reduce inflammation.

    • 2

Grind oatmeal in a blender to make it very fine. Put it in a bowl of cool water and apply it with a washcloth to the dog's itchy skin as a lubricant and moisturizer. If you prefer, get a dog shampoo that has colloidal oatmeal in it.

Hold a cold washcloth on the dog's worst itchy spots. This gives immediate relief from the itching for a while.

    • 4

Change your dog's diet to include cooked yams with each meal. The yams can help with hot spots on dogs' skin, caused by food allergies. They're also highly nutritious.
