How do I Make a Dog Eye Wash Remedy?

If you notice that your dog has an eye infection or irritation, it's important to treat it immediately so the dog doesn't accidentally scratch its eye. Signs of an eye infection are excessive tear production and mucus around the eyes. It's not always necessary to buy an eye wash. You can remedy the situation yourself by creating an eye wash for your dog at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 2 cups water into bowl.

    • 2

Mix 1 tsp. table salt into the water. Make sure it is plain salt, not iodized salt.

    • 3

Put on a pair of latex gloves. It's important to keep things sterile when dealing with your dog's eyes. By wearing gloves, you are preventing bacteria from getting into the dog's eyes.

    • 4

Wrap an arm around your dog's body, so that the hand on the same arm can hold the dog's head steady.

    • 5

Dip a cotton ball into the mixture, and then hold the cotton ball over your dog's infected eye. Let a couple of drops fall into the dog's eye.

Repeat this process twice a day until the eye clears up.
