Instructions

    • 1

Use a pooper scooper to scoop up waste from your yard. Scrape the dog waste with the scraper edge of the tool and allow the waste to fall into the scooper part. Large pooper scoopers can handle several piles of waste, so you can pick up more than one pile before disposing the load.

    • 2

Dump waste into a bag or a trash bag in a trashcan. You will not want to place dog waste directly into a container because this will leave a mess in your receptacle.

    • 3

Close individual bags of waste tightly to control odors. If you are using a trash-bag lined trashcan for dog waste disposal, make sure to keep the container tightly covered so that odors are contained and flies cannot get into the container.

    • 4

Hose off any remaining waste from your yard if you were not able to completely remove some piles or if the dog had diarrhea.

    • 5

Pick up dog waste on walks by using empty grocery bags or dog waste bags that you can purchase at a pet store. Tie off tightly and dispose in your trash can when you get home or in pet waste disposal sites, which have become more common.

    • 6

Hire a pet waste disposal service. Such services will come to your yard and scoop up your pet waste and dispose of it.

    • 7

Pick up dog waste or piles from carpet or floor as soon as possible. If you find that your dog has had an accident in your house, pick up the waste with either a plastic bag or paper towel and dispose of it in a bag. Tie it off tightly and place in an outside waste receptacle if possible.

Spray the area that was soiled with carpet cleaner or floor cleaner. Scrub thoroughly to rid the floor of any remaining stains.
